To update, or not to update?

So whats the deal with the recent update? Has it been decided that there is nothing to exploit in the update? I just saw this tweet from birdman and I was wondering. I've been waiting to do the update until I knew if it would give us root or not.

"just update your droidx, the update is much faster...good job moto? (i guess)" about 3 hours ago via web

From what I understand the update will install after a number of times declining the update.
Not sure if it's fact or not.

Why are you thinking not to take it?

hookbill on Droid Forums: Take the update, it's not changing that much and it will probably install it on you anyway no matter how many times you say no.

Verizon wants you to be able to access My Verizon, and you should be able to do that from your X.

Wondering if it patches any holes that could be used to root. I'm afraid I'll update and then they'll anounce that they have root, but it wont work if you've installed the update lol.

I did it and it seems to improve a few things. I don't see any reason not to. Pretty soon we will all be on froyo anyway, so the devs will have to think of how to get around that version instead.

the devs have said the update is safe. Whatever loophole that might have been found has not been released publicly, so Motorola has very little way of knowing how to patch it, so it's highly unlikely that this will lose your ability to root.

the previous poster has a good point too. can't do custom roms so 2.2, when officially released, will probably have a final patch that just plugs any loopholes. not much we can do except play the waiting game for the most part.
