Over on XDA people are reporting they got the soak test email a couple days ago - apparently the ICS OTA was very quick to drop after the soak test, so we should have lots to discuss soon!
Personally I'll be waiting until the amazing devs get their hands dirty with the JB OTA build and cook up some magic - the lack of Verizon crapware on Eclipse ICS is awesome, and I don't think I could go back to that even for JB (and then only to install and configure a new slimmed down ROM in the next few weeks anyway).
I'm pretty ticked off at the build quality of my D4 so I've lost interest. The front facing camera stopped working, and the slider is scraping off the shiny "chrome" on the trim ring around the keyboard. The shiny "chrome" around the screen is all beat up as well... The fact that I have to mess with safestrap is a gigantic PITA too, so that killed some enthusiasm...
Still excited to finally have JB though, the D4 should have dropped with ICS and had JB as the first update. Manufacturers and carriers need to get it together.
Safestrap isn't nearly as complicated and awkward as it once was - the new touch-based environment has us all a bit spoiled. I remember mashing around with the camera button and volume keys on my D2... that was a PITA...
Moving up from the D1 where I could do anything I wanted and not really worry about that silliness kinda turns me off. Yeah it's great to have a backup right there, but if they'd just unlock the phone we wouldn't need to play games.
