touchscreen flipping out, new digitizer didn't fix? what gives

So I have been trying to fix an a955 droid 2 and not sure where to go. The touchscreen randomly goes berzerk, more when the battery is low. I tried replacing the digitizer with a new one and ripped the motherboard cable (doh!). After ordering and waiting for THAT replacement I JUST got everything re-assembled.

Except?
It's no better. The touchscreen continues to go nuts and there is no change.

Nothing done to this other than a basic root done eons ago.

Any other ideas?

p.s.
no screen protector, screen cleaned with alcohol, and I just tried a factory reset same deal.

What did you do after you rooted? If you still have most of that lovely VZ bloatware that is the likely cause. Sorry to see that you already ordered two new digitizers as that is usually something that doesn't show up until the phone has been pretty heavily used.
