OK, so I will be in Europe all summer. I know my phone won't "work" for calls, data, etc. But I would like to use it to connect to wifi networks to check email, take pics, possibly even use skype, check fb, etc.
Verizon told me that if I use their "vacation suspension" service, my droid will be rendered unusable, even if I am just connecting via wifi.. it won't even work as a camera according to them. Is this true? I feel that I have read many posts on the forum to the contrary, but they insisted that you guys were wrong. If this is true, can I keep my phone active and still retain wifi connectivity? What is the safest way to ensure that I don't rack up any roaming / international data usage fees?
Also, I would like to forward my number, but doesn't the call have to ping the phone before it gets forwarded? So would this be possible? I thought it wouldn't be, but they are telling me that it would as long as I keep my phone active. I think they are full of it / misinformed. Opinions??
