Trouble with Gallery

I've upgraded to the newest firmware on the Droid and I can't view my gallery. Once I open up my Gallery, no albums or pictures of mine come up. And this message comes up: "Sorry! The application Gallery (process com.cooliris.media) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." And then all I can do is press "Force close". I called up my sister, who has a Motorola Droid too and she said she is not having a problem with her Gallery.

I heard that this is a pretty common issue with upgrading to the newest firmware. Is my Droid just faulty? I still have the 13 day warranty too.

You need to trash your old icon and bring up a new one from the app drawer. I couldn't view the new gallery until I did this to start with. If you have already done thes and are still having trouble I would turn off the phone and do a battery pull.

I'm having the exact same problem. I have deleted the existing icon from my home screen, replaced it with another link, but both the new icon and using the pull up menu both generate the same result. Tried the battery pull for a couple of minutes as well.

Specifically, the program appears to open fine and during the loading of pictures to the screen (into categories, ie. downloaded, camera photos, etc.) it gets a couple loaded and then hangs with the force close dialog. Also, the force close doesn't just close the program, it re-opens it into an endless cycle of hanging, force close, and re-start. Have to hit the home button to get out.

This is a pretty critical app because I take a lot of photos on the phone and need easy access to view them while in the field. I can't always get to my computer to download them and view them there. I have over 450 photos on the card, all from the phone camera. Is the large number a potential issue? I'll try moving them to the computer and deleting them to see if that helps. Will post an update if it does.

Any other ideas? I love the potential new look of the app, but its useless to me as of now...

It still won't work correctly. I click that drop down arrow/button or whatever on the first screen, I then press and hold down on Gallery and then drag it to the trash. But it's still on the screen.. I know this question has been asked a few times, but how do I delete an icon that just keep re-appearing?

The only icon you would delete is the one on your home screen. Then you would bring up the one from the app drawer and put it in its place. I take it this hasn't worked and the battery pull hasn't worked either? The only thing I could suggest is doing a factory reset. I'll do some digging around and see if I come up with something else
