Trying to root Nexus S but all it says is "waiting for device" in cmd - help!

Hi guys, I'm trying to root my Nexus S using the method linked below, but when I follow the instructions and put in the command in cmd, all I see is "waiting for device." My drivers are installed properly and USB debugging is on. What am I doing wrong? This is the method I'm trying:

Did you make sure you had usb debugging clicked and unknown sources?

Try redownloading the file...from droidlife...then if that doesn't work let us know...often times we get bad dl...
