turn screen off after text while plegged in

how do I turn the screen off when my phone gets a text while its plugged in?
I mean besides turning it off
How can I set it to turn off after getting a notification?

Just hit the power button to get the screen to turn off.
I don't know of anything that will do that automatically.

Last night it killed my battery even though it was plugged in

Were you charging via usb or the wall charger.

usb does a poor job at charging....Wall charger has no problems with the screen on, Mine is always on when charging.

Try going to setting -> Call settings

Try un-checkmarking "Keep screen awake"

also, goto setting -> Sounds & Display and change Screen Timeout time for something far less (I don't know what you set as).

then there's this: Setting -> Application Settings -> Development -> STAY AWAKE un-checkmarking this will probably get you what you want
