Two phones only one line question

Bear in NM

Quick question. As my D1 is my first smartphone, I am unclear on the policy/process of having two phones with only one paid phone line. I am guessing when the dual cores arrive, I am probably gonna upgrade to a new phone and keep my D1 as a spare. I do not need/want to have both active (I am sure this is impossible) but I am unclear as to whether I can just purchase the new phone and "deactivate" my old phone myself. Does this have to happen at a store, or is this something I can accomplish myself, either on-line or on phone?

Thanks,

Craig

Once you activate the new phone the old phone is automatically deactivated.
You can use it as a wifi device.

And you can do this online, over the phone or in store.

Thank you sir, I am glad I asked. I was wondering about the wifi part. I had originally planned to keep the D1 as my one and only, but the dual core offerings that are in the works look to be verrrrrrry tempting. But then given that I likley live in the last place that will ever see 4g on the planet, there are some other "considerations" that cannot be factored in, just yet.
