Unable to sync Contacts

I just installed CyanMod and Google Apps and when i go to add an account to sync my contacts i enter my info for my gmail account it verifies it then ask me to enter server settings and i just press next as im not sure on what to change. And it says could not open connection to server. Should i change anything or what could be wrong? Thanks so much guys

Turn off wifi if on, should be able to get the connection on 3g. If that fails, perhaps you might need a fresh and current set of gapps.
