alright so I have a bit of a unique situation and ill only have to deal with it for another week but man would this help that week go by....

I have a router in a loft upstairs that emits wifi, however my xbox does not have a wifi adapter

Could i pick up with wifi on my X, connect that to my laptop, and then connect the laptop to the xbox for XBL???

or could i just bypass the X and connect my laptop (wifi enabled) and connect to the xbox for XBL??

You can connect the laptop to the xbox and bridge the connection.

Windows 7 Windows 7 Create network bridge - CNET Windows 7 Forums
Windows Vista Use your laptop as an Xbox/Xbox 360 "Wireless Adapter" on Windows XP/Vista, and Mac OSX

Hope that helps!

This is what I do when I need to bring the Xbox upstairs because the roommates don't understand how awesome Halo Reach is. Be prepared for it not to work, you need to make sure the xbox is off before you connect the ethernet cable to the xbox and again make sure to adjust "share this connection" with the xbox not on and not connected, it'll save you head aches.

thanks for the heads up :), where do you find the share this connection option?

Set a static IP on the xbox, itll make things easier. To share the connection open your laptop and go to network connections, right click on the wifi and go to properties/sharing.

It shouldnt take long to set up, maybe 20-30 minutes. It will have a tad bit of latency, but nothing bad enough to not do it.

sounds great, cant wait to give it a try

thanks for all the help everyone
