Unknown Incredible Icon

Hi All -

An icon has recently appeared in my notification area and I just can't figure it out. It looks like an ear, or an ear-piece with two sound half moons to the right of it. It's not bluetooth, not sound volume, it's not speakerphone and I can't find it anywhere in the 300+ pages of the user manual.

When I drag down the notification area - there's nothing there but my task killer.

Any ideas?? Much thanks,

Om the stock ROM right out of the box you cannot get rid of that icon. That is the 911 locator,and as you have seen, you cannot uncheck it. Youwillhave to root and flash a custom ROM to get it to go away.

My bad, go to settings then to call and scroll down and there is a little box that says hearing aids. Uncheck that and it will go away.

What does hearing aids do, when I am on the highway in my Jeep I could use more volume in my bluetooth. It's fine in a car.

I think it just amplifies in call volume.

That's certainly not the locator or location icon.

Thats definitely the Hearing Aid Compliance feature.
To turn off hit menu, settings, call, then uncheck (turns off) the checkbox on Hearing aids.
That will turn off that feature and the icon.
