Unlocking Phone

Hi All,
I´m just curios..I read a comment on some site about how some users are trying to unlock their phone with a dead screen and they were saying that everything seemed to be working fine but that they can´t see the mouse pointer on the screen of their PC. I have also read that in order to mirror your phone to your PC it has to be unlocked or else it won´t work, so these people are basically wasting their time, right?

The term unlocked refers to the ability to change carriers [sim]. Therefore, the phone does not have to be unlocked to see it's files on a PC.
The phone does have to have USB Debugging turned on.

Hi,
When I mean unlock I don´t mean carrier unlock. I mean just getting back the initial screen. So there is no possible way to see the mouse cursor if the phone has a dead screen. If you are trying to unlock a phone using a PC?. Thanks.
