Hello,

I was looking for some help here. I just got my Droid Incredible. I installed unrevoked 3 so I could be rooted. I backed up my phone with clockworkmod. I downloaded the gingerbread ROM because I heard it was sick. I installed it in recovery mode from my SD card. Nothing happened. I did a factory reset to try and download another ROM from the app ROM Manager. However, when resetting my phone I needed to download ROM Manager from the Market.

Now the problem comes into play. When I click on the market app, it will not open. I have tried resetting, clearing all chaches, and still nothing. I have tried to download a new ROM, but during the installation it says aborted.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Bill

It's your ROM. As simple as that.

Try going back to stock via the zip file found here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Just put it on the root of your SD Card and boot into HBOOT. You may have to select "bootloader" before the file will be recognized.

Alternatively, you could connect your phone to your computer, then run the RUU. But I think you need a ROM that supports HTC Sync, and you need HTC Sync installed on your computer.... yeah the zip file above is a lot easier haha.

By the way, what ROM are you using, and do you have a data connection (3G icon in notification bar)?

I rebooted with the MEGAUPLOAD and it got my phone back to normal, and the market works.

Thank You very much!!

Should I install unrevoked again and try to install a new ROM or just keep it as it is? I want to optimize my incredible.

Well cool people take advantage of Custom ROMs, kernels, etc. So yes, by all means, don't let one fail deter you from the magical and exciting world of custom ROMs and the like!

I'm using Uber Z, it's an Android 2.2 ROM, but I don't see why everyone likes the 2.3 Gingerbread ROMs other than the visual interface- the only real difference is 2.3 supports multiple cameras- as if that applies to us.

But anyway, Uber Z (| ROM | Uber Z | RC3-2 | 01-28-11 | - xda-developers click on the green "Uber Z" heading for the official site) is a port from the Desire Z- one of HTC's latest phones which uses Sense 2.0. Sense 2.0, if you do not know, has more features than I think stock Android will ever have, at least for a while.

Why do I like this ROM?

Free Wi-Fi Hotspot and USB tethering (Without VZAccess Manager)

Add-Ons like the Droid Eye boot ("drrrooooiiiddd" sound doesn't work for some reason?)

Sense 2.0 (landscape view, music player cover flow, ability to customize and download skins, ringtones, widgets, etc from HTC Sense Hub, and htcsense.com, which allows you to lock/wipe/locate your phone from a computer, and more!)

As of right now, you can't mount the SD Card except with a special app (I forget the name) or by going into ClockworkMod Recovery, but that's about the only thing that's broken :)

Oh and to better answer your question, what ROM are you running? It is probably in the early stages and has a lot wrong with it, in which case I would switch to a more developed ROM that can be used as a "daily build", which means it is good for daily/ regular use. I hear it (daily build) a lot on the forums, so I assume it's some official term or something haha

I guess I am running the ROM mentioned above from MEGAUPLOAD. How can I check to see what ROM I am running? Sorry for being such a rookie at this. I do see a 3G notification at the top of my phone.

Another issue has come up. I did everything you said above, and it basically took my phone back to normal. It is still rooted with revoked 3. I tried to put your Uber Z suggestion on my phone. I downloaded it, and put it on my SD card. I restarted the phone to install it, but when I click on recovery, it shows me picture of my phone, with a triangle and exclamation point inside of it, so it won't let me boot up anything from recovery mode. any suggestions?

My bad, I didn't know you were that new at this haha

You actually are NOT rooted. You will have to re-root with unrevoked3 and that will reinstall ClockworkMod Recovery. That triangle and phone recovery is the stock recovery, which as far as I know does nothing...

Once you are rooted again, go into recovery and install Uber Z.

In case you aren't aware, you have to install RC1 then a small 2MB or so file that upgrades it to RC2 (fixes a browser closing when loading a webpage issue).

RC1 is on the official site here: Uber Z

Just click on "ROM" at the top menu. RC2 is in a link next to the RC1 download link, can't miss it.

Don't forget to wipe data and cache! I always forget, a real pain when the phone won't start up.

Once your ROM is nice and installed, on the official website for Uber Z, there is a link near that "ROM" button for Add-Ons. You might try some of those.

And I know this is a lot, I'm almost done haha, but let me know if you lose 3G (data connection), some people have problems with that, and there is a solution, but it's kinda time consuming.

And yes, you are running the stock ROM right now. I just know what ROM I am using, but HTC Sync displays your phone's current ROM when it is in HTC Sync mode connected to your computer.

Actually what you might wanna do instead is wait for a port of the HTC Thunderbolt, it will have everything the Desire Z port (Uber Z) has but since supposedly it will be more stable since the Thunderbolt is CDMA and LTE (Verizon) just like the Incredible (minus the LTE).

They are about to release it for the EVO 4G but the Incredible, I expect a port....ummm... In the next month.

Uber Z has more issues than I thought, one of them being holding the data connection when tethering.

It's up to you of course, but I'm thinking about going to a former ROM, Fusion, which is just a Vanilla Gingerbread ROM. No Sense or anything like that... But it's stable.

Thanks for all of your help. I re-rooted using unrevoked 3. I also, went ahead and installed the UberZ ROM along with the patch. I am messing with the add-ons now to see which I like best.

Everything seems to work okay right now; however, I cannot access my voicemail. It says to enter my passcode, I do that, and then it asks me to enter my passcode again, and eventually says to call back and hangs up on me. Have you ever heard of antyhing like this?

I've been switching between Uber Z and Fusion in order to figure out if mt Seidio battery is defective or if the ROMs battery software (or whatever it's called) is innacurate- Uber Z was showing my stock battery was 2X better than my extended. Now I am on Fusion and extended is working just fine, but anyway long story short, I will have to restore to Uber Z and letcha know.

In the meantime, I am going to try to find an alternate Desire Z/HD ROM, one that works a little bit better.

Okay so this looks promising:

[ROM] Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo By Incubus26Jc [RLS5.3][1/12/2011] Maintenance Update - xda-developers

Lots of add-ons, updated regularly, large user base (probably not many bugs if people use it) and nothing appears to be broken (if something like the camera does not work in a ROM, it is referred to as "broken")

Here's the download link, it was kinda difficult to find....
Myn\'s-WarmTwoPointTwo-1-12-2011-RLS5.3-By-Incubus26Jc.zip

It isn't a port from the Desire, though, so it's mostly Sense 1.0 and the Evo.

It bugs me that I am posting so much, but I think Super Z ROM might be the one!

I originally was against it because of the Superman Logo, I really hate it haha but since I am desperate, It'll do.
