update broke my phone

Ever since the update my phone powers down several times a day. Not cool !
Now i have to constantly check to make sure I'm reachable. I'm on call, for God's sake.

First and last HTC device.

I hear you...I love how android devices just randomly reboot or freeze, especially when in use.I was about ready to throw my droid x at a brick wall, its been acting up all day, freezing, and lagging....my sons el cheapo samsung never misses a beat,as does my old lg envy, never did this crap. Factory resets, formatting SD card, various roms,it doesnt matter, they all do it....

If you're stock and not rooted, I've heard/read that a factory reset will help, if not completely stop, reboots since the OTA. I know that's a headache, but could be worth it if it works.

My TB runs perfect ... The worst running TB runs better than the iphone. Download the firmware it workday great and if it doesn't than u know I def need a new phone than I should b straight .. piss on iPhone my buddy has it, its garbage

I've never had a reboot on this phone thank God!

The only major problem I had besides the battery, was the GPS. It let me down a couple of times, but now it's working.

I have only had a couple reboots after the update, but considering the environment I was in, non-A/C basketball stadium at VaTech in a space where 10K people are crammed into a space for 8K for my brother's Grad School graduation, I don't believe it should be happening again.

As like the poster above, my main issue was GPS, and I am still not sure if its fixed. I have always had an immediate lock in Maps, but Navigation and Tasker were usually really far off. Through intermittent testing, it seems to have been fixed, but I'm going to have to give it a while before I know for sure.

My Thunderbolt works flawlessly. And I'm sick of reading complaints from people that refuse to simply resolve their issue. The guy above complains of an issue then a few posts later says he refuses to put forth any effort to fix it. Live with it then. These issues are very easy to resolve with minimum effort.

I recommend flip phones for people like this.

And don't think iPhones are any better... Search and read about all their complaints.

I have even offered to fix peoples phones for them but they would rather continue complaining.

I'm currently downloading the update on a TB which so far is taking an hour and is about 55% through! Is this normal? I'm hoping it fixes the weather location problem which is irritating.

Simple to fix huh?

My TB ran perfectly before the update. Constant reboots since. Did battery pulls, factory reset, shut off 4G......of which NONE resolved the issue. Been to Verizon about this 4 times in 4 days. They're finally sending me a replacement and I will not update that one until I hear they've fixed the bug.

I understand your retort was aimed at the person who doesn't want to expend any effort at all, but simply could not agree with you that this issue is broadly an easy fix. Haha.

Explain that if it is a bug why so many of us don't have it. Also those that had the reboots and it was resolved with a factory reset.

If a factory reset doesn't resolve then move on to something else. Including reverting to the original radio if that worked.

It is fixable. Random reboots have been around a long time along with the solutions. I have been a victim of random reboots on other devices and always fixed them with some simple effort. Swapping for another phone will not work because at some point you will be faced with it again and not have learned anything. Then you will have to come to the boards to complain some more.

But I do agree that everything should work without having to mess with it.

All I can explain is that many "bugs" or software glitches do not impact everyone. While there may be some that had a battery pull fix it or a reset fix it....there are still some of.us that these things do not fix it. If I could explain why, I'd patch the firmware myself. Heck, if the software engineers could explain it, we'd have bugless software releases. Reality just isn't as black and white as you're trying to paint it. All of our phones will not react identically to every issue or every bug....despite the fact we have he same model. I like the TB...so I will take my replacement and play the odds.
