For those folks that are able to score their VZW Galaxy Nexus today, they will be receiving an OTA update within a couple hours of activating their new phone. The update will bring their OS to version Android 4.0.2 and build ICL53F. It actually brings a few features along with some fixes and improvements. Here's some of what it introduces:
  • Optimized 3G/4G data and Mobile Hotspot over VPN
  • Improvements to the visual effects feature associated with the phone’s front-facing camera
  • Visual improvements to the handset’s lock screen
Here is a link to Verizon's .pdf instructions on the update: VZW - Samsung Galaxy Nexus Update Instructions

Does Google Wallet work on the GN out of the box? I know VZW had a problem with it.

I know this might sound crazy, but I was wondering if this update would disable it. I'm conspiracy paranoid like that sometimes.

this phone is freaking awesome..lol update came within 10 minutes for me as well. google wallet not on phone and i did not see it in the market. then again, i searched with my Bionic and didnt see it in the market either.

Same here.. popped up right a way.
Love phone so far.. my store had tons left and there was zero wait just a few minutes ago

they are selling pretty good from my limited 1 store information... 25 people in line at the door when opening, and 72 sold as of 1:30pm at my local store... Funny thing is, most of the employees didnt even know the phone was coming out today. No one told them.. dude said the manager only scheduled 3 people to open today.

I know I'm in the minority here probably, but if it wasnt for my Nexus One hitting EOL, I wouldnt have bought this phone. Yes ICS is nice, but the build quality is just not there compared to Moto phones. I'm looking for an Otterbox or Innocase now although neither was available last I checked.

I got mine around 9:45 this morning. There were surprisingly very few people in the store in Lewisville, TX by the mall. Got the update on the drive back to work after skipping out for an hour. ;)

Agreed, awesome phone. Felt a little large at first, and with good reason, it's a titan compared to the Droid. My only gripe with this phone, and please let me know if it's just me, but for you OG Droidies gone Nexus...ies - does the maximum volume seem much lower? For instance I can barely hear the screen lock sounds, and while loud music is loud, quiet music is really quiet. My alarm volume is at max but the quieter alarms I use just to bring me out of REM sleep are going to be useless as they're TOO quiet. Is this an actual hardware issue, AKA cheap little speaker, or are they just babying what the speaker is actually capable of by setting a low max? Sorry for throwing the question in this thread, maybe it'd be kind of relevant if it turned out to be a fix through another update. :)

I agree, speaker volume a little low even with all the volume settings to max. Way loud enough when using headphones.

Ok, got my Unicorn, wouldn't quite finish activating, suggested I reboot, rebooted, no data signal, and not downloading update, even though it said it was due. Clicking "retry" doesn't do anything...help?

Yes the volume is considerably lower vs the OG Droid. My complaint so far is that i cant figure out how to sync facebook contacts.
