Upgrading to 2.1, from a rooted droid... whats involved?

I have a rooted droid and have also followed all the steps to make create ip tables etc to use the wifi-tether app

I cannot upgrade to 2.1 OTA...

My question is, can i upgrade to 2.1 without loosing the work i put in to use the wifi tether? If so ... how?

And if not... whats the easiest way to restore everything? (links to original flash image would be helpful i guess)

No, you have to unroot your phone to get the update.

the easiest way to go back to stock is with droidmod. droidmod.org, get the dmu updater

honestly dont leave root to go to the official 2.1, cuz you'll end up missing all the rooting goodies

honestly, do you forsee a downloadable update for rooted 2.0.1, to update it to rooted 2.1 without having to restore it to stock before hand?
