USAA mobile banking...

I loved the concept of the USAA iPhone app. I contacted their customer support just so that they would know how much I want the app for the Android OS. This was their response...

Dear Specialist *******,

Thank you for your email regarding a USAA Deposit @ Mobile application for the Android OS.

USAA used the iPhone platform in order to be the first to provide the ability to deposit a check via a mobile device. This achievement, in turn, afforded USAA the foundation from which to introduce the same ability for BlackBerry, Palm, Windows Mobile and Android based devices. We are currently working with these other devices to share the same capability as the iPhone; however we have not yet been given a timeframe for when any given phone may be added.

We continually look for ways to improve our products and services so they are of the highest quality for our members, and your feedback will help us to do so.
We value your business and the opportunity to serve all your financial needs.

Thank you,
Joseph ****

Can you use the camera to submit checks via the cell phone? I think my wife does that for her pay checks and we use usaa.

she just uses a regular old cell phone with internet access. Takes a photo, and sends it I think. I dont think she scans it.

I'll double check with her, but I think all she had to do was open a usaa line of credit and she was good to go for phone or scanner. I'll ask her tonight to make sure she can do it from her phone. She had mentioned thats how she was going to do it from now on, but maybe she was mistaken.

No more waiting. If you haven't downloaded it already, it was put in the Market last Friday (1.22.10) for OS v1.6+!!!

I have a bank account with USAA, but not insurance. Some people I worked with say I might not be eligible for the scan checks thing. Does anyone know if you just have to have a bank accnt thru them to be able to do it?

Rettocs, according to USAA's website you need a checking or savings account, be eligible for insurance (but not necessarily have it), and either have a loan or credit card or at least be preapproved for one. I can only assume the latter is just to limit their risk since they are letting folks make deposits with just a picture of a check.

Wow, that is awesome, I'm gonna have to try this out, then. I have a Credit Card through them in addition to my regular bank account, and I don't see why i wouldn't be eligible for insurance :D

To be eligible for insurance, you either have to be active or prior military, and/or your parents have had to have had insurance with USAA at some point. All you can do is try, and go from there. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

I am Active Duty. I hope it works, as well!

You should be fine...originally it was only available to Officers, however, NCO's are now eligible.

Have had USAA for many years, it is excellent!!
