USB help

New Member
I am a new Motorola Droid owner. After getting home with Droid, I connected it to my computer. The computer recognized the Droid and was searching for the drivers to install. A short time later, the computer said that I should insert a disk that came with the droid. It was unable to install the drivers needed. I tried this on my other computer and the same thing accurred. Now, when i attached the droid to the computer via the usb cable, it only charges the phone. It does howerver recognize that the Droid is hardware on the computer and i that i need to safely remove it when finished. Is problem caused by 1: USER ERROR (ME), 2: VISTA (installed on both computers) 3: A COMBINATION OF THINGS MOSTLY CAUSED BY MY LACK OF COMPUTER/DROID KNOWLEDGE:mad:. Any input into my situation is greatly appreciated.

you shouldnt need any drivers for the droid. to access the memory card, all you need to do is mount it (drag down the bar and click on USB connected) and then it will appear as a disc on the computer. same thing to unmount.

Connect 'Droid to WinXP Computer via USB

connect USB Cable to 'Droid;

The 'Droid will notify using txt message noise and show USB symbol in top Left on the Status Bar, there will also be a /!\ warning.

Slide down the Status Bar (touch the white part of Top-Status Bar and slide down) to show two lines: USB and /!\.

Click/Touch the /!\ and get the message to "Mount" USB drive.
Select Mount.

You will then see on your computer a new "Removable Disk" drive.
This is your droid.

Take care, this is a powerful feature.
You can copy images/pictures off your phone.
Deleting, renaming, modifying files will cause problems if not done correctly.

Clarification, it will make the SD card notification sound, which is the Droooid tone that is the default notification unless you change(d) it.
