Usb/Sync problem for Droid 2

I have had my Droid 2 for almost a week now and when i plug my usb cord into the computer it only charges it. I don't get a notification about syncing or anything. PLEASE HELP

So you don't get any notification at all when you connect USB? Even if you pull down the notification bar?
