Using Droid1 as tether for itouch

So there are many threads about this already, but about 99% are about ROM's.

I'm going on vacation next week and my brother doesn't have a smart phone so I set up my itouch to have all the apps he needs. I'd like to set up my Droid1 as a tether for wifi for the itouch. From what I've read this can be done easily with a rooted droid, but my droids not rooted.

Anyway to do this without rooting or is that a must for tethering?

Thanks guys

Root is not required to tether your phone with a USB connection, however, as far as I know, all wifi tether applications require root. So I guess the short answer to your question is you will need to be rooted to use your Droid to provide internet to an iTouch.
