verizon 2200 problem

I have the Verizon mifi 2200. One day it just wouldn't re charge. I bought a new battery but that still didn't fix the problem. I took it to the Verizon store and they said there was nothing they could do I'd have to buy a new one for another $120, AND a new two year plan. The salesman let it slip that other people have been in with the same problem. Mind you this thing is 1 year old. It goes from my desk to my briefcase and that's it. It hasn't been beaten or abused. I'm so pissed that they're trying to stiff me for the cost of another unit and and an additional two years that I'm considering changing phone service. Any one else had the same problem?
