Verizon Android physical keyboard phones

Why are there only 2? For those of us who are not Motorola fans, this is very frustrating. What's worse, the HTC Merge seems to still be in limbo. Anyone know of future releases or an equivalent to the EVO Shift 4G planned for Verizon?

to be quite honest your not going to see much come to verizon as far as a powerful phone with a keyboard as the masses dont want it.

there are some low end android phones scheduled to come out with a keyboard for verizon.

Just doesn't make much sense when Verizon is the leading Android carrier and Sprint has a better selection of qwerty phones. Is there any talk of an updated version of the LG Ally coming out soon?

The problems is more people are ending up in positions like myself, than those who continue to want a physical keyboard.

I thought I wanted/needed a physical keyboard. First I got the LG Ally, but due to it not getting a software update I returned it and got the Droid 2. I have had it ever since.

One day the search button on the keyboard stuck and everything I was doing would pop up various other apps when I was trying to send a txt, etc... Well, I didn't want to deal with it so I started using the onscreen keyboard and swype.

After about 2 weeks, I figured out the problem, but I rarely use the keyboard anymore. I honestly regret not just getting a Droid X instead now.

I know of other people in the same boat.

i would never consider any android phone as a business phone at the least. The D2 Global did an okay job but still a long way away from being considered a business phone.

i would never consider any android phone as a business phone at the least. The D2 Global did an okay job but still a long way away from being considered a business phone.

So you consider candybar phones the only business phones? Why not android being an OS for business? It lags a lot? You constantly loose phone calls because it crashes when ringing?

I used to swear id only have a physical KB, then I tried swype on a 4.3" screen and changed my tune real quick.

Touch screen keyboards blow... They need more physical qwerty phones.

Swype is neat, but I like to just type how I talk sometimes and swype doesn't pick up on that. Also, I find myself making WAY too many typos when using the regular on-screen keyboard, and if I have auto correct on it just makes me sound odd...

The screen keyboard takes up to 50% or more of the screen, so then you can't see what you are writing if you want to re-read what was written so far. It just doesn't work if you need to write a serious business email. Touch screen phones are for gamers and/or kids.

There is a rumor that Moto is going to announce a very high end qwerty phone at CES 2012. I know it's pretty far away but at least the idea of having a high end android phone with a physical keyboard isn't dead.

Rumors say it will have a quad core tegra 3, 1gb DDR2 RAM, 12MP camera and will be LTE.

just like they announced the Bionic @ CES 2011 i wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

besides if they announce it in january 2012 which is when CES is. The phone might be on the market late 2012 if at all.

I know the OP talked about not being a Motorola fan, but the Droid 3 is expected to drop in the next few months. It's going to have what looks to be a vastly improved 5 row keyboard, 4" screen, front facing camera, dual core processor, and global capabilities. The leaked pictures look pretty slick in my opinion. I'm a big fan of my Droid Pro. The keyboard is unmatched in the Android world, and it's just as capable as the X or Droid 2 when it comes to processing. I loved the screen size of the X when I had it, but I haven't missed it after making the switch to the Pro because the keyboard is so great.

I'm thinking the Droid 3 will definitely be my next device though. While I'd love to go LTE, I need a global device, and it doesn't look like there are any of those coming out in the near future.
