It appears the backlash that Verizon was feeling from consumers regarding their reluctance to support Samsung Pay on their network has had an effect. Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Note 5 owners on Verizon may soon get what they have been clamoring for.
Verizon just officially confirmed they are working on support for Samsung Pay on their network, and it should be coming fairly soon. For some time, critics, the media and the general public have thrown accusations at Big Red suggesting they were purposefully holding back the ability to use Samsung Pay in order to only support other mobile payment systems.
Whether that was their intention or not, it no longer matters. Either they always had the intention of making Samsung Pay work on their network, or they simply bowed to consumer pressure. In the long run, support is coming, although Verizon didn't give a clear estimation of when that will be. We do know that Verizon will be supporting Samsung Pay on the following devices: the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.
We will keep you updated if/when more details arrive.
