my friend has the eris and i have the incredible a few days ago. we are having a problem with only having 1x available for data and a few hours of the day we get 3g. is anyone else experiencing this? i tried *228 1 and 2 and it doesn't work to fix this.

Are you both getting 1x consistently in the same location(s)? It's possible you're just using the phone mostly in a non-3G area.
Occasionally, switching into and out of airplane mode will get me back on 3G from 1x, however, if you're in an area with poor 3G coverage, there's nothing you can really do about it.

I called tech support. they said there wasn't a problem with my location. the rep reset some data settings for me while the battery was out and that fixed it! it's weird it just happened out of the blue.
