Verizon is walking the fine line to make sure that customers who did not pick up the Droid don't feel too left out in the cold. They have made a vague announcement that the Droid Eris will receive OS upgrades in the near future as well.
The HTC Hero has already been earmarked for getting the Android 2.0/2.1 OS and since the Droid Eris is nearly identical, it stands to reason that it will get the same treatment.
So, you Droid Eris users, fret not. You'll get the Android 2.X love soon!
