video droid took is corrup can it be fixed

I took a video with my droid x that was about 4 min long and 356 megabytes of toby keith literally right in front of me. The problem was the droid did something to the file and it couldn't play it on the droid or on my computer..

Is there anyway to fix this, it is an awesome video I really wish i had!

Have you restarted your DX since then?

Also, I was going to say "well you video'd Toby Keith and even the phone thinks it shouldn't be played"...but I figured that was just wrong. :)

You could try hooking up usb and pulling the file off the SD card (if that is where it is) and playing it stand alone without the phone or the card. IF that doesn't work on the computer, and a battery pull doesn't cure the DX player, the file might very well be a gone-er.

Hope for the best!

I was able get the file off the phone, all 300 plus megabytes of it, but it does not play on my computer and I tried out in multiple media players so its there anyway to maybe repair it. Its a large file so there has to be some kind of data left in it right?

Same Problem!

Hi guys, I'm new here, but I searched for a thread that has my same problem and this is it!

My experience is the same as searayman's. I took a 300.6 MB file in HD (something like 4 min long). When I went to replay it on my phone's video player (stock) it just froze. So I restarted, tried again, and same thing. Finally, I pulled it off the SD card and tried to play it in VLC Media player (which can even repair files sometimes!), it wouldn't play, with VLC giving me this error message:

No suitable decoder module.
VLC does not support the audio or video format "undf".
Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

Hopefully, that last sentence by VLC is tongue-and-cheek. Has anyone else come across a problem like this? If so, what is causing this? Has anyone found a way to repair the file? At least to get the audio?

Furthermore, what the heck causes this, so I can stop it from happening again...

Thanks!

Glad to see i am not the only one with this problem, mayeb we can attract for attention to this thread. I have been doign a lot of research on my own. Havent really come up with to much though. But I may have gotten another clue that may help some smarter people then me fix this problem.

Here is what new info I got. I downloaded GOM another media player and I was able to click on my video file and analyze it. By analyzing it, it gave me these results:

I found it kind of interesting that it says unknown file format at the top. So that might be a start in finding our problem?

Anymore help would be great!

Ok so more investigating, I decided to try and use the GOM analyze feature on a video I took with my droid x that works and it looked like this:

quicktime didnt work, and it does have the file extension on it

I have the same problem as the OP. I took 4 consecutive videos with my DX and all are corrupt. I've tried every player that I can find and they all say corrupt file...even Quick Player. I did download directly from the card to my computer so I could work with the files independent of the DX. Nothing! I did take another video later and it worked OK. The only difference was that the wi-fi mode was turned off during the later video. Would wi-fi mode somehow have an effect on the video file? I don't see a connection.

my wifi was not on, so i dont think that was the problem

I had this happen for the first time today. I am wondering if a video editing program can edit it. Maybe wasn't finalized right. Maybe chop the end.

I have the same problem, almost every other video is corrupted, I tried moving them to my computer but it still says they're corrupted, if anyone finds a fix let us know.
