video playback Droid X

When I choose a video to play back at a variety of web sites the result is often choppy/pixeled/lost audio and stuttering. It is inconsistent within each site, but usually occurs within one minute of starting. I asked Verizon but their reply was that there was nothing that can be done. I may need to call back on a week day to get a more experienced tech?
Is there no alternative to the issues? I am not rooted, just plain stock. Occurs within the stock browser/Opera Mini/Firefox. Opera Mini is the better of the three to get some playback. Is this what most Droid X devices are providing?

Try loading the same video files but over WIFI vs 3G? i have many more problems with videos on 3G then WIFI.

tried rebooting the phone and updating flash?

Most videos are not optimized for mobile playback. Even though we now have flash and the videos load, they will not play correctly and you'll usually get a message saying "this video is not optimized for mobile phones".
