Video Recording Interrupted

Hello all - Long time reader. first time poster...

I've noticed a few times that when I'm recording video and I receive a text message, it will stop the video from recording and end the clip right there. I'm using Handcent SMS, I'm not sure if that would contribute to the problem at all or not.
Is there a fix to avoid this, or do I need to turn the phone into Airplane mode to record a video?
