Voice Dialer

I"ve had my Moto Droid for three weeks now and haven't posted in a couple of weeks because things have mostly been going well. However, I recently tried using the Voice Dialer. I have been completely unsuccessful. I started out with "Call Home." I of course have my land line listed as Home in my contacts. It has never come close to finding the right listing. Some examples of its return for "Call Home" are Call VA-Newington; Call NDPU, Call Awnings, Call Truluck's. Other inputs are equally weird. "Call VA-Newington" brings up a friend's name that sounds nothing like "VA-Newington." The only time it scored was with "Call Truluck's." Other attempts bring a "try again" error. What am I doing wrong?

:welcome: to the Droid Forums. You're not doing anything wrong. It's well known that the voice dial for the Droid, well, I can't think of a better way to say it, it sucks.;)

HOWEVER there is a way to bring up your contacts and have the phone dial them verbally. Instead of using the phones voice dial use the search button then tap the microphone. Say "Call home" and it will search your contacts and call home for you. I use this all the time and it works I'd say 98% of the time.

Thanks, but here's what happens when I use your method. If I say "Call Home," it displays the phrase in the window but says it found no matches. Apparently it looks for a contact named "Call Home!" If I say "Home," it finds "Home" and another local business that has the word "home" in its title. Then I can select "home" and have it dial it. But I expected automatic dialing. Is there a way to do that?
