Voicemail notification wont go away

I have a notification at the top of my phone that says 1 voicemail. When i check my voicemail it says no messages. I have tried a battery pull and it is still there. When I pull down the notification bar there is no place to clear notification. Has this happened to anyone and how do you fix it.

I called myself from a friends phone, left a voicemail, then called my mailbox, listened to it, then deleted it. What I did was waited about 10 seconds after I hit 7(I think that is the number for delete) and then hung up.
