volume buttons are confused

My incredible's volume buttons are locked on media volume control even after I've killed all the apps that play any media. I know the volume rockets control media volume when playing media but how do I get them to go back to default as ringer volume controls?

Is anyone else experiencing this?

silly question but did you try a battery pull?
and if you killed all the apps there could be a possibility you killed process that controls ringer volume...so yeah restart mess around with it some more, but if all else fails factory reset it :/
