Volume up button works but volume down doesn't (Nexus 6p)

On my Nexus 6P, the volume up button only works the volume down doesn't work at all.

Any suggestions?

I think the only advice anyone can give you is to backup your phone and do a hard reset on it. If it still is malfunctioning, more than likely its a hardware problem unfortunately. If a drop of water got around it that may have been a cause for failure or from some form of physical stress (dropping, bending even slightly, etc)
