Waiting on my Revolultion

So after months of research, waiting, research, waiting, hanging out on DroidDroums.net I finally ordered my replacement for the BB Storm II.

I went with the LG Revolution.

A few things convinced me to go this route.

It appears to have less issues than the TB.
Better build quality than the Charge
it is for all intents and purposes the same phone as the TB with some minor feature changes (and no gorillia glass ). It does not have the SVDO over 3G that the TB has, but as I live in a very heavily saturated 4G market i don't see that as a major issue.

It has an HDMI out that the TB lacks. I have a new pseudo grandson and I know I'll be taking pics and video of him. It will be nice to see on the Big screen TV.

I ordered from VZW online and it cost just $149. I'd have like it for less but that is not a bad price.

It is coming to my office next day air so I should have it tomorrow. This gives me the weekend to play with it and see how much I like it.

Does anyone know of any Gingerbread ROMS for this? I'd love to put one on. I think the latest phone should have the latest version of the OS.

There is almost zero developer support for this phone.
One of the reasons I'm returning it.

It was $199 plus I had a $50.00 Customer loyalty discount.

Okay I've a little time to Play with it and I have some comments/questions. This is my 1st Android phone so forgive some possibly stupid questions.

1st I love the screen. Very nice almost as nice as the Charges SAMOLED+.

Next I hate the predictive word function of the LG keyboard. I might try swype.

Battery took a long time to charge. and so far battery life is not the best. I've loaded Juice Defender, but it seems to lock up the system. Is there a better power management app?

Phone is fast. I'll say that.

Now for a few questions.

Is there any way to copy and paste from the message app? Is there a messaging app that allows this?

I've got a lot of e-books and music on the SD card from my BB. Where on the Revo's SD card to I put them?

Can I create set some of my music as custom ring tones?

It's going to take a bit of time for me to get used to this thing, but So far I love it.

Hello. The sdcard should be near the battery somewhere. Take the back cover off the phone.

Battery saving tips as applies to all android phones:

-Set screen time out to 30secs or less
-Turn auto sync, wifi, bt, etc off if not using it
-Turn screen brightness down or use auto brightness
-Never use an auto task killer, and try not to manually kill tasks either
-Dont use apps that take alot of bg memory up, find an alternative similiar app that uses less memory
-Reduce the amount of widgets you have on the home screen

You should be able to copy and past by long pressing message text or hitting menu button.

You should be able to set music as ringtone within music player.

Good luck with the device. Let us know how you like it.

Also when downloading apps read the reviews and pay careful attention to what the apps ask to access. Some can be fishy.

I think you misunderstood my question about the SD card. I was wondering what folder to store the e-books and Music in, or does it not make a difference?
