wallpaper--any way not to stretch photo

I have a photo I want to use as wallpaper but I want it to show in the same proportions as I see it on the screen in gallery (or in my email). Droid stretches it when it sets it as my wallpaper. Any way to prevent the stretching (it's a photo of my super cute grandson...I don't want to see just his face). If there's a way to prevent this, I'd love to know how. Or if there's a different app that handles wallpapers....?

Thanks!

the correct size for Droid backgrounds is 960x854. But, even when you select a picture if that size, the droid will assume that you want to crop it. if you drag the edge of the crop box you can expand the box to fit the entire picture.
