Wallpaper Help

I have a reoccuring problem with some wallpapers and I'm wondering if there is anyway around it. Sometimes when i try to put a new wallpaper the image is zoomed in big time and looks crappy and not at all what i cropped. I figure it's the picture size, what programs do you guys use to resize them or maybe there is an app for it?

I'm using wallpaper 540x960 and use an app called Wallpaper Wizardrii. Look at all the options / it will make you happy.
