Wallpaper image size, I know the 1440x whatever, but still need help...

Ok so I download a image that might be 1440x1280 to my Gnex but then I go to set the image as the background and when I go to slide the crop box it never fully fits, the image is always to large to fit in the crop box.

Is there something I'm missing?
