Weird Problems

So there are a few problems that I am having with my Droid3.

The first and most annoying of which is the phone will occasionally restart by itself. One quick question about this is that even when the phone is on silent mode it still says the droid sound when it starts up. This is very annoying when say I'm in class.

The next problem I am having is that when I hang up a call and attempt to make another call I have to either wait 5 minutes or pull the battery. This is very annoying as a phone is supposed to make calls.

Plus there are the occasional lock screen freezes which are also so very annoying.

Has anyone else had the call problem or any of the others before? Any ideas on some fixes? I went to verizon and they said it was probably a phone problem so they are sending me a warranty phone, but I'm wondering if this is just a normal problem with the phone.

Mine does the occasional random reboot every once in awhile. Not sure why, but it's not very often. I haven't had any of the other issues you are having though.

Maybe try factory reset. Alot of people have had issues from gingerbread, the same issues you have described. I don't know of any fix for it yet, there might be something out there that I don't know about.

I've had two or three random reboots in the two months I've had my D3. I always keep my phone on vibrate, but I hear the "Droid" welcome in that instance. I guess it makes sense: the phone rebooted without the user's permission. It might as well defy the user for another minute or so:)

If you're rooted, you should be able to remove the "Droid" welcome by moving its file out of /system/media (it's the musical note that's labeled "Droid," obviously). I say "should" because I've never tried it and can't say that nothing would be thrown askew by moving it and sticking it on your SD card. It shouldn't pose a problem, but I would look into it a little further before doing it. It isn't a big deal to me. I wouldn't bother.

I've never had the other problems. Good luck resolving them:)

So I received my refurb phone and lo and behold I have essentially the same problems. Still get a random reboot, calls are occasionally staticy even when I and the other person have full bars, still hard to make a phone call and apps keep disappearing. Looks like I will head back to verizon tomorrow to see if they can do anything. In the mean time does anyone know if I can get a replacement phone (read as a different phone) from them since this appears to keep happening? I have tried mulitple options such as factory resets and patience. The only thing I haven't done yet is root which I don't want to at this time, I had with my og droid but didn't feel the need until now.

Are you sure that you aren't having a problem with a bad app? (When you say that you factory reset, does all of this happen before or after you reinstall any of your apps?) As for disappearing apps, are you moving apps to the media area?

If the same thing happens with multiple handsets, you start questioning something like that rather than the actual hardware.

It's tough to say what could be wrong. My one suggestion, if you do try for a third phone, would be to go to a different Verizon store, if possible. Some phones truly are defective. Who knows if a batch of defective phones were delivered to a particular store, you know.

Good luck.

I had 3 dud phones before I actually got a good one, and I've been rocking it about 2 months I guess

Do a factory reset. Do not allow google to sync any apps, only contacts. Do not have it automatically reconnect to wifi upon resetting, do it manually. Install the apps one at a time and not all at once, 5 here and 5 there till you've installed them all or unless it starts rebooting again (then you'll have an idea of what apps if any caused the problem). I did this when it started rebooting hourly and it never happened again.

Im on my third. Hang in there. Keep having them send phones til u get one w no issues.

Luckily I've never had any of these problems. Good luck getting Verizon to actually send you a different model phone. My friend is on his FIFTH LG ALLY all replaced for the same reason, the ear speaker going out and only being able to talk on speaker phone. Just now the Verizon store FINALLY put a note on his account about it and told him to call customer service and see if there's anything they can do and they may be able to give him a comparable phone. He hasn't had a chance to call yet but I'm interested to see what if anything they'll do for him. Good luck man! Hope you get a good one! Must be I got a Tuesday phone or something which is weird cuz usually I have the WORST luck!
