Weird web browsing on ICS

Am I the only one that notices this?

Check for yourself. Set your browser to desktop mode and log in to gmail.com. The left pane doesn't behave as normal.

Also, if you set a background pic on your google homepage, the search bar is gone as well as the settings tabs across the top. You can poke at the page and eventually the search box will show up, then you can slide it all over the page.

Other websites are weird too. If more people don't notice there will be no reason for google to look into it.

I noticed this earlier today as far as the browsing bar being gone. I went into settings, labs and clicked quick controls off and now I have the expected browser.

I don't have quick controls on. Do you have a background image set on your homepage?
Did you try setting a background image from your phone?
Did you try gmail.com?

As I suspected, it's a java problem.
I disabled javascript and my homepage comes up but doesn't display the background image.

When I went to gmail.com, it complained that javascript was not enabled.
This has to be due to the Oracle lawsuit.

Yeah, I've seen similar issues too. Especially in landscape mode. There is a particular website at work that does this and I've noticed it over on xda too

I don't understand why no one is complaining about this.

Maybe it is fixed in 4.0.3 which it seems a lot of people have moved to?

There are a few things on this phone that I have been able to reproduce on other people's which most haven't mentioned. I know a lot have moved to 4.0.3 Roms so I'm assuming that fixes a lot........heck, didn't really hear about the keyboard lag and text replace issues in landscape mode till the other day and that was one of the first things I noticed when I picked up the phone.

Makes me wonder who tests phones and don't find these things.

Especially testing it with their own website.

Didn't you say you disabled javascript? Would it not make sense that gmail then complained about it being off?
