Hello, I'm new to the forums and I am still a learning newbie when it comes to phones. Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sure squeak :welcome: to the Droid Forums. What do you need help on? We are all here to help, that's what DF is about. :)

Thank you everyone! I was recently trying to root my Droid 2, but failed horribly. I have tried several different root tools with the same results. It runs exploit 1 and then tries to reboot phone but freezes at that point and my phone is stuck at the bootloader screen. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Welcome to Droid Forums!!

What system version are you running and what tools have you tried?

I am running GB 2.3.3 and I have tried almost every root tool. Gingerbreak, Superoneclick, and Petes Tools are the 3 I remember.

Well gingerbreak and superoneclick will definitely not work. Are you using the cable that came with it?

And it might still help to know the system version. You can find it under Settings > About phone > and it should be in there.

The system is 4.5.601.A955, and the cable I am using is actually from another phone, so maybe that is my problem?

As long as it is a Moto one it *should* be ok. You could always try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. Also, sometimes trying a different computer does the trick. Not too sure what else it could be since I never had to trouble shoot with my Droid 2, Pete's tool always worked for me.

Thanks for the tips! I believe the problem is the cable because it is from an LG phone but its the only one I have. Thanks again for all the help!

I believe the problem is my usb cable, a friend suggested buying a usb 3.0 to use, or does it specifically need to be a Motorola cable to root?
