WEP Wi-fi password issues

The wifi at work has a 5 character password. WEP security specifies 10 or 26 characters and the wireless settings won't let me put less than 10 characters in to connect. Does anyone know of a way to get it to connect to the wireless with the short password? Help please.

40-bit WEP is a 5 character key in ASCII -- Convert the key to Hex and you'll have 10 characters.

Also suggest to your network manager that he should switch to a real security protocol. I dont mean to be snarky, but WEP as a security means is about as safe as no security at all.
