What do you plan to do with your OG droid after upgrade?

Unfortunately I am stuck with mine for awhile but its been good to me.

Since they are still powerful and capable of doing most anything When you upgrade what do you plan on doing with your old phone?

It's getting passed on to my wife. And because of that, she is insisting that I get the Bionic on release day. I will say, that if I don't like the Bionic after playing with it at a store, I'll buy the Droid 3.

Have a good day!!

I tried it and the Droid x2 and liked the droid x2 better.

I know benchmarks arent that conclusive but quadrant scores were considerably higher on the x2 than the bionic.

Doesnt matter because i am stuck with my phone until begining of 2012.. Next time I wont buy a device toward the end of its cycle.

I cant really complain about my OG droid though its running at 1.1ghz and does okay.

I plan to have mine bronzed and then I shall place it upon my mantle to admire for years to come.

Short term?

My D1 is rooted. I've used it as a wifi hotspot twice when power was out to get to work remotely from home. The current rom it is using supports ad-hoc networks too. That is required to connect to a toy I recently picked up, a Parrot AR.Drone (pic below). Until such time as tethering works on the new device I can always reactivate the D1, use it as a hotspot, then reactivate the new phone when done.

Long term? Who knows. We have a rooted Nook tablet, the replacement phone will have game/web/email access just like the tablet does so it won't really be needed. It will most likely sit around as a spare, even though I know if the new phone craps out a replacement won't be far away.

I'm thinking portable media player immediately. It will be able to do Netflix, music, movies, games, etc.

One thing I'm curious about, is if I can use it as my in-car navigation device with Google Maps. Would I be able to tether it to my Droid Bionic to get a data connection and then use Google Maps Navigation? I know it uses an ad-hoc network for wi-fi, so I'm wondering if that would cause it any problems in connecting to the Bionic for wi-fi tether?

The only reason I would do this is to limit the battery drain on the Bionic. Obviously I could use the Bionic if necessary, but it would be awesome on battery life to have two devices with access to the Android Market.
