What is the Mobile 3G Hotspot app for?

Basically, it allows anybody within wireless range of your phone to make a wi-fi connection to your phone and then your 3G connection to get to the internet.

In other words, its a way to tether on the phone without using a cable to connect phone and computer.

In a nutshell, why would I use the "Mobile 3G Hotspot" app on my phone? What does it do?

Thanks!
Others ahead have basically answered most of what you have asked...so I will just give a more in-depth answer for one aspect...

A "use" for the Mobile HotSpot, and its best use IMO, is if you are travelling, especially with kids. If you have a laptop available, you could easily turn on the 3GHP app and connect the laptop to the 3G internet of your phone and allow the kids to surf the net or watch YouTube clips, and depending on service area, maybe even Hulu shows. It can also be used for connect iPods and iPads as well for the same type uses...

If you dont really have a use for it, then I would for sure steer clear of it since its pricing is so high and the usage limit so low...not worth it in the end IMO....

So I would have to ask Verizon to add this feature? It's not something you could just start on the phone and get billed into shock?
