I recently unbricked my Droid X by flashing the 2.3.320 sbf file, but some post mentioned flashing .340 SYSTEM ONLY sbf file and some patches. And I was wondering what is the purpose of flashing the .340 SYSTEM ONLY sbf file and do I need to flash is after i flash the 2.3.320 sbf file..and same thing goes for the patches??

to get up to the latest updates - get closest to the OTA

baseband is newer along with the kernel so dont you want that

Actually flashing that file will bring.you current with the 2.3.340 OTA not get you close to it.

Also, alot of ROMs are being coded to .340, which has a lot of differences (in code) to .320, so loading a ROM meant for .340 could cause issues.

No it won't, you need 4 patches to be completely on .340, not just the system only. There is also bootloader, kernel and baseband.

That's why it's called the system only
