What should I expect from the Bionic's Blur?

I will be eligible for an upgrade just before the Bionic comes out. I'm not 100% set on it, with rumors of the HTC Vigor and a Samsung Galaxy S II LTE on the horizon. Despite those, I do lean on Motorola products and am wondering what I should be expecting.

My current phone is an OG Droid, rooted, running the ProjectElite ROM. I use the original email app for Exchange Sync, Handcent for SMS, and LauncherPro for my homescreen.

I've heard that the Blur featured on other newer Moto phones mess with your communication applications, your social network integration, your homescreen app... so does anyone with the DX, DX2, Droid2, or Droid3, or just a knowledgeable person know what kind of changes I should expect (or ignore and install my apps over) with the Bionic?

I guess the first thing to say is I don't know where you heard the rumor of that samsung galaxy s g 2 lte because it has been confirmed that there will not be a samsung galaxy s g 2 on verizon...

The new blur is actually smooth and very nice! I really like it!

Blur is just the user interface... that's all. I don't see how it can affect the communication apps... if it does, there's something else other than Blur deeply buggy with it, but this is the first I've heard about that.

Maybe I shouldn't have called it a GSII, since yes that was confirmed to not be coming to Verizon. I should have said 'Samsung 4G phone', although we don't know what kind of model.

The videos of the Droid Bionic's UI that have leaked look pretty cool, I'll admit. Part of me fears it using a lot of memory... but maybe that's because I'm still in the mindset of my OG Droid, and am forgetting about the better processors and larger available RAM in new phones. Or I'm just really used to LauncherPro.

On my phone, I have an Email app, and a Messaging app. They're separate. A friend of mine with a Droid2 Global, when they click on Email OR Messaging, it takes them to combined interface that shows email, texting, and social networks, and allows them to communicate everywhere from one application. It came with the phone. I was under the impression this was neither a Google or Verizon application, but one by Motorola as part of Blur. Maybe I misunderstood?

Yes, there is a universal inbox and such, but it doesn't mean you can't ignore it and use any app you prefer.

As for the new blur (I forget what its actually called these days). I prefer to use the new blur over adw, go, lp, and all the other launchers. I even tried the one samsung released a day or so ago, Pure Wind or something.

Okay, so Blur now is just like any other Home application? I remember when it came out that you were supposed to get a Blur account and sign up to it and things. If it's just a cool UI, then that's, well, good!

Yeah it's definitely just a home application. You'll be able to install any launcher program you wish to replace it with, but it does look fairly smooth from the videos I've seen.

I guess the only 'problem' I would have is being used to LauncherPro with my five-icon dock, and this Blur having only four icons.

Yea you dont have to sign up for or in to Blur to use the phone like on some older Motorola phones with Blur. Its been that way since the Droid X1 if I remember correctly.
