What the Lagg???

Tuesday, I did the requested updates on my Hubby's Droid while we were riding in the car going out to dinner. When we got home 5 hours later, it was still updating (So says Hubby) and the lagg was terrible.

Now, two days later his lag is STILL aweful and his battery comsumption skyrocked. He can't even make it through a day with the phone doing nothing but 4 or 5 calls. I had him do a battery pull and installed ATK. Still the same problem - Lagg & Battery Drain.

What's the matter?!?!?!

sounds like one of those apps is buggy
That's what I thought too. But I wasn't paying attention to what got an update. He had 6 or 7. We were hoping the Dev would issue a new update when they discovered the problem but I dunno which one it was.

Maybe someone out there knows what app is the culprit.

I know that the app called antivirus just put out an update that killed everyone's phone. Boyfriend installed the update and it sllooooowwwed his phone way down and killed the battery. Check to see if he has that installed....if so, either uninstall/reinstall or just uninstall and keep it off the phone....

If its the one that looks like a yellow pill, YEP, he's got that one. When he gets home from work, I'll uninstall it for him and see if it helps.

Yea, that's the one. You might want to go to the marketplace once you uninstall and see if they "updated" the update to prevent it from crashing. I was looking at it last night and a couple of people have been able to uninstall and reinstall a fresh copy with no problems. I have the app, but once I saw what it did to my boyfriend's phone, I'm holding off on updating it.

Good luck!

So I uninstalled it and it seems to have done the trick.
But why wouldn't you need anti-virus. It's more than a phone, it's our PDA and what if there's important stuff on there?

excerpt from gizmodo.......

Ask an avid desktop Linux user if he or she (ok, he) uses an antivirus solution, and he won't give you an answer, he'll give you a sermon. And while his zeal might be inappropriate, his sentiment will be largely correct: Linux really doesn't need antivirus software. Android, with a smaller market share and simpler guts than most common Linux distros, has even less to worry about —

Good to know, but now sorry I wasted the $ on the "Pro" paid version. :(
See what happens when you don't read the forums here : )

If you bought it less than 24hours ago you can refund it...

If not it's too late and I'm sorry to hear that.

If you would have asked about the AV app you would have heard a collective "DON"T DO IT!!" from a lot of members here : )
