What Version Did They Send Me?

My original Incredible that I got on release day, was of course a Samsung AMOLED screen phone.

The power button failed, and the phone will not turn on. I contacted Verizon, and they over night shipped a warranty replacement Incredible.

The new / refurb phone came today and I have it set up and personalized.

The screen looks different though. I know the latest version of the phone was built using a STFT screen, since Samsung pulled their screens from any phone but their own.

How do I determine, from the replacement phone, which version, and more importantly, which screen? I'm really not happy with this screen if it's a STFT compared to an AMOLED.

If you still have the box, look at the sku, which will be adr6300vw, and then a 3 if you have the slcd screen or a 2 if it is the older amoled.

Also, dont accept the OTA update if you are wanting to root. After the update it is almost impossible to root.

I have no interest in rooting but thanks for the tip.

I'll check out the sku.

Next question, if I have a version 3 Incredible, how hard would it be for me to find a phone tech that could swap screens before I send the old phone back in?

The sku only appears twice in what they sent me.

1st, a generic refurb box - FRUPCDADR6300 - It makes no mention of a 2 or a 3 after it.

2nd, the customer receipt - FRU: PCDADR6300 DIG - It makes no mention of a 2 or a 3 after it.

I'm just 100% sure the screen's black seems a lot more olive than my old one and it's bothering the crap out of me.

I cant tell you exactly how to get to the right menu, because I am rooted and it is layed out differently, but here it is approximately:

Menu/settings/about phone/hardware

One of the items under hardware (I think) will say 0002 or 0003. Same rule about the 2 being amoled and the 3 being slcd. I think

DAMMIT!!!

I had a version 0002 and loved it and now I have to send it off and it gets wiped and refurbed and sold to someone else.

I read around that if you have the original AMOLED screen then they should have sent you an AMOLED refurb. I've never seen the original Incredible screen but this new SLCD screen is pretty sharp too
