What versions of Android have device encryption?

What versions of Android have device encryption? I have read that it wasn't implemented until 3.0 for tablets and 4.0 for phones. Does 2.3.? offer it? I have it on my Eclipse rom'd DX2 on 2.3.5, but don't know about stock.

AFAIK, Gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM added support for device encryption, but the feature wasn't accessible from settings until Honeycomb (tablets) and ICS (smartphones).
