where is copy/paste etc. for email....

i pulled up an email (gmail) on the phone and wanted to copy the text so i can paste it in another app....but holding my finger on the text didnt bring up any dialouge to select from.....is this a drawback of android currently or perhaps an app i installed is maybe messing with the phone ?

Found it in another post, and in case anyone else does a search and finds this one first,

You guys know you can hold the shift key and do a finger drag to select text right? I do that in my gmail all the time.

That and long press any text field box to copy/paste.
