UltimateDroid now has Droid X Gingerbread too!

UD 3.0.0 for the Droid Inc, Droid 1, Evo, Desire (GSM), and Nexus S are now available. Trying to get as many as I can uploaded tonight. Nexus One, Desire (CDMA), and GTablet still left to go. May be starting beta testing of DX/D2 gingerbread this week or at least posting a video of working gingerbread on the DX. Roms still in the works: Fascinate, Galaxy Tab, Nook Color.

Quite a while ago, P3 on MDW posted teaser screenshots of Gingerbread running on the Droid X. Now UltimateDroid is posting about having Gingerbread functioning on a Droid X.

So why isn't this publicly available, yet? And where are these two getting Gingerbread from that nobody else is? I'm not surprised when P3 had it but am now that UD also has it.

P3Droid cannot root the thing. Aliasxerog took a stab and could not root it either. That is why it has not been publicly released.

There is a full 3.4.2(froyo) sbf file that P3 and aliasxerog were working on rooting and that is in the tbh app and you are actually able to downgrade to the full 2.3.340 full sbf. The gingerbread P3 was talking about will not run on our dx's right now. Only on his unlocked x

You are correct though neither the 3.4.2 builds or the gingy builds have been rooted on the x but that's why he released the 3.4.2 on the app to see if someone could get the thing rooted.

So is this file to be pushed via rsdlite? Or could we flash this in bootstrap?

That's why we are still working to bypass the bootloader.

Not gonna happen. You need motorola.

Notice I said bypass, not unlock.
Follow the developments at FreeMyMoto.com, and follow palmeecurling, aliasxerog, jaxidian, and FreeMyMoto on twitter to stay updated on our progress. The kexec module works, initx is under development as we speak, and driver writing is under way, though we could use some help on that front.

I believe birdman, before he quit, said writing the drivers are pointless. I forget the reason though. I don't see a bypass happening either. The phone is going to be even more obsolete then it already is by the time a workaround happens. I don't see a workaround happening though. The x is a great phone. But it's almost done as far as being relevant (if it's not done already)

I know little about his attempts but our kexec module works. We need drivers (which are going to be difficult to write) to have a kernel that works. Aliasxerog has tested this method, and has had successful boots (kexec'd to stock for testing)

Yes the phone may be obsolete but thus project cab be ported to many phones, and I don't know about you but I'm stuck with my dx for another 20 or so months
