Why are these two programs on so often?

Before putting the phone to sleep, I hit task killer to find that Voice Dialer and Handcent are open even though I never used them. I can't find any way in the settings to turn off whatever is making them automatically open. Any ideas? Are they a big drain on my battery? Thanks.

handcent has to stay resident for your messaging. voice dialer is probably the same way if you've ever used it. check the settings of the app.

have you tried rebooting the phone to see if they come back up on their own?
